Biography
of Stuart Robertson (Stage Technician)
Stuart Robertson was born in Manchester on 31st of December 1975
Stuart's
career in music began at 8yrs old when he started playing the trumpet
in the local Scout & Guide band. This included various shows
& parades including a performance at Manchester's Free Trade
Hall in 1986. After leaving Scouts Stuart began playing around with
his friend's Bass Guitar & was instantly hooked. He bought his
first Bass at 15 & within a few months, had joined his first
Rock band, Siam Orchids. They played their 1st gig at Sale Grammar
School when Stuart was 16 and finally broke up 9 years later after
playing support gigs with American Rock bands Tyketto & Enuff
Z' Nuff.
After the demise of Siam Orchids Stuart decided to expand his knowledge
and abilities and enrolled on a BTEC course in Popular Music at
Manchester College of Arts & Technology which he completed gaining
7 Merits & 5 Distinctions as well as experience of being integral
to the start-up & running of the College Record Label: Big Red
Button Records resulting in the production of 2 cd's. Since college
Stuart has been involved with various projects from Wedding bands
to Session work including a performance with Don Felder, Rick Wakeman
, John Miles, Richard Fleeshman & John H. Stracey in September
'05 in aid of the NSPCC.
Stuart
became interested in the technical side of performance at 19 when
he was asked to join a small P.A. hire company as a Roadie. He spent
most of the next few years setting up at Weddings and Corporate
functions around the North of England before being recommended to
The Manchester Academy. During his time there, Stuart worked with
many acts including The Polyphonic Spree, Lemon Jelly, Reel Big
Fish & The Sugababes.
After a short break from Roadie work Stuart joined Voulez Vous in
Feb '06. Having worked almost exclusively in a traditional band
performance environment Stuart is enjoying learning the workings
of Theatres and building on his previous experience.
Stuart is influenced by an extremely wide range of music including
Country, Funk, Ska & traditional Latin & African styles
and continues to perform and improve his abilities whenever possible.
In his spare time Stuart enjoys playing video games, watching movies,
gigs and stand-up comedy.
